Small Square Necklace (Gold and Silver-in-Glass)

This unusual necklace is designed and crafted by the Auroville artist Birgitta Volz. Every single piece of jewelry is made by hand, thus creating their unique charm. 24k gold leaves are fused in between glass keeping it in a good shape forever. The vacuum in the glass will also keep the silver from changing colour. It will always stay so shiny. It is an elegant yet every day piece of jewelry.

How the jewelry is crafted:

Pure gold leaves (24 karats) and silver leaves are fused in between glass forms in a vacuum process, with the same manufacturing technique used on the Matrimandir’s golden tiles. After the fusing, every piece is ground and heated again over  a mold to create its final shape. As they are in an vaccum our silver pieces will never tarnish.

How to care for your Gold-in-Glass Jewelry:

Under normal circumstances, the jewelry is solid and the gold is preserved in glass forever in perfect condition. Please avoid dropping them on a hard surface. Most of our fittings are made from hypoallergenic (nickel-free) alloys and are suitable for people with a sensitivity to nickel. They have real gold or silver plating, which is not permanent in the tropical climate.
To clean the fittings, use a brass or silver polish.
