Balmaadi Estate is nestled in a valley in the Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu at an altitude of approx. 1500 meters above sea level. Coffee cultivation there was started some 150 years ago by Scottish entrepreneur John Ouchterloney. Today the area has become a pristine forest where the wilderness and plantation activities co-exist in harmony. In order to preserve this unique environment. Balmaadi Coffee uses for the cultivation of its product strictly organic and biodynamic methods only. Balmaadi Single Estate coffee has been awarded the ‘Flavour of India, Fine Cup Award, 2004’.
