Yoga in Auroville

While I like doing my own Yoga Flow at home I love practicing in a studio, where I am inspired by incredible teachers and the beautiful energy that all other practitioners bring. So here is a small list of my favorite places to go to for a good Yoga workout. Please be aware that in some places guests can only participate if they have an Auroville Guest Card.

Pitanga: Pitanga Hall is one of my favorite places for an intense well taught Yoga class in a beautiful environment. Their space is absolutely gorgeous, only stepping into the space, listening to the water fountain, smelling the incense and experiencing the balanced atmosphere for Asanas and therapies makes me relaxed and grounded. Have a look at their monthly schedule, all teachers are highly professional. The Iyengar Yoga classes in Pitanga with Tatiana and Angela are famous though. This place is only open to registered guests.

Arka: This central located Guest House has a light flooded and spacious Yoga Hall. Their aim is to foster health, growth and progress regardless of age. They offer a very good Pilates class several times per week, furthermore the Acro Yoga classes on Saturday mornings are a treat. Have a look at their monthly schedule here.

Verite: Connected to this lovely Guest House is a Yoga Hall that is used for classes and workshops. Several therapies like Thai Yoga or deep tissue massage are available. The classes taught are mainly Iyengar Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I like the early morning classes; they are an amazing way to start your day. Have a look at their monthly schedule here.

Creativity – Hall of Light: This place is an insider. The place is hidden in Creativity Community close to the center of Auroville. In the small Yoga Hall mainly Vinjasana Flow is offered, the feeling of the sessions are very private and calm. There is no schedule available. At the moment (October 2017) classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 5.30 pm to 7 pm.
