The word shaman originated from the Manchu-Tungus word šaman which means “one who knows”. Its definition has expanded across different cultures around the world to include medicine men, healers, tribal leaders as well as visionaries and seers. This painting is inspired by the invisible realm of plant and animal spirits which these people are often able to connect with that has shown them how to live in balance and guide their communities. Life is a dance of beauty if only we open our hearts to the music of the universe. Original watercolor on paper with pen line detailing.
